Trivia

  1. Batista’s theme music was remixed and had lyrics added to it in May 2005. The new song is called “Unleashed” and is performed by the band Saliva.
  2. Batista’s PPV debut was at Armageddon 2002 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he defeated Kane.
  3. Batista was the first wrestler to pin Triple H in the Hell in a Cell match. It happened at the pay-per-view, Vengeance in June 2005.
  4. Batista’s catchphrase, You talkin’ to me? is a parody of the quote said by Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver, which WWE made a parody of for Wrestlemania 21.
  5. Batista’s “thumbs up–thumbs down” symbol (which he makes prior to the Batista Bomb) was actually first used by Triple H when he kicked Randy Orton out of Evolution. Batista later used it in taunting Triple H at the Wrestlemania 21 “contract signing”, when he first went “thumbs up” (fooling Triple H into thinking he would face JBL), then “thumbs down” (when he revealed he would face HHH instead).
  6. At one point before getting into pro wrestling, Batista trained with Brock Lesnar in a gym in Minnesota. They both joined WWE’s developmental territory(OVW) at the same time and competed against each other before entering the main roster. Batista credits for helping him the most during his rookie days in OVW in an edition of WWE’s webcast Byte This in 2003.
  7. Batista has been on the cover of Flex Magazine.
  8. Batista currently holds the record for the longest reign as World Heavyweight Champion in WWE at 282 days, only two days over Triple H’s 280 day reign.
